I have been trying to find a death for a Henry William Goode who was born 1874 in Bushey, Herts. I have systematically checked every quarter on ancestry from 1911 to 1969 with no luck. The only possibles that I have found are a Henry Goode aged 47 in Bury and another Henry Goode aged 44 in Kings Norton. None match the area and the name is not the full name.

I have several definite possibles matches on the wifes death, all possible, but was hoping for a close match with a death for the husband in the same area/time period, before ordering certs etc. Unfortunately the deaths I have for Elizabeth Goode are Nuneaton 1933, birmingahm 1935, luton 1935, cambridge 1942, littleboro 1950, wellingboro 1952.

The family remain in the Bushey area until 1901 and they then appear in Hampshire in 1911.

She obviously could have re-married at some point but as I can’t find a realistic death, I’m not sure????

I have tried using ancestry, just wondering if another search using FMP/genealogist would be able to find them.

      Fingers crossed………..xxxx…………….thanks

        Hi Paul

If you have checked through the index images and have only found 2 possible matches I don't think it likely that searching another site will help, as they all go from the same index. I think you are going to have the bite the bullet and order the certificate. Fingers crossed it is the correct one.

Do you have their address from the 1911 census? it might be worth checking the phone book or the electoral register to see how long they stayed at that address, might at least help eliminate some of the possible deaths for Elizabeth

        Good luck

Paul, not sure if you have noticed but Ancestry have recently transcribed all births and marriages from 1916-2005 so it is no longer necessary to trawl the images year by year, quarter by quarter - you can do a straight search and find all applicable entries.
They are apparently doing the same with deaths - and I read somewhere that the transcribed version would be released either late 2009 or very early 2010. I would therefore recommend you wait a few months to see if anything shows up on Ancestry - I know how easy it is to miss something when trawling through image pages!

As Vikki said, other sites wont give you anything different to what is on Ancestry as no one else has produced a transcription of the death index, as yet!

Well we shall try this one then............What happend to poor Sarah?

I have a Sarah Chiddicks born appx. 1829 in South Fambridge, Essex, daughter of John and Elizabeth Chiddicks both born in South Fambridge. Elizabeth's maiden name was Baisey. She kindly makes an appearance on the 1841 census aged 12 living at home with her parents in South Fambridge. After this she just vanishes. Now the name Chiddicks is spelt lots of different ways, Chittox, Chittex, Chitticks, Chittick, Chiddock, Chiddocks, Chittocks etc, but the origins of the family are south fambridge, with branches then moving to South Ockendon and Barking both in Essex. There is however a branch of Chittticks in the Great Wakering area, who appear not to be connected and a group of Chiddick in Norfolk, again not connected.

I assume she either marries or dies, but i cant find either at the moment. I have transcribed every Chiddicks entry in BMD as its a rare name, but she is not there.................help

Clutching at straws here - have you eliminated this death?

                      Sarah Ann Chitticks
                      1847 Jan-Feb-Mar
                      District: Rochford
                      Volume: 12
                      Page: 186

(South Fambridge comes under the Rochford registration district)

No I haven't as yet, would explain why she's not in the 1851 census. I have transcribed all of the South Fambridge BMD registers for the Chiddicks name, but her death isn't there, but she could of course have lived in another parish by then.

I wonder if the South Fambridge burials are available on the SEAX site - although I find searching the site very confusing!

dont think there available online, i have the microfiche of them for south fambridge, i suspect this could be her, but its difficult to say for sure, there are a lot of parishes in and around fambridge that the chiddicks families lived, just the ann bit that throws it slightly

I've been trying for ages with this one.

I am looking for a Marguerite Longland Lukes in the 1901 census. She was born in 1883 in Gravesend, Kent, her parents were Joseph Richard Lukes and Sophia Smith. She married Frank Day in 1908. I have her on census returns for 1891 and 1911 but not 1901. I have tried both ancestry and find my past with all sorts of combinations of searches, just looking for Marguerite's/Margarets born in 1883 in Gravesend etc etc. I have not been able to find another marriage for her prior to her 1908 marriage either. the family appear to be in or around the milton area of Gravesend. Any help as always is appreciated, she could of course be missing off the census, but just wondering if I am missing something obvious.
                              Thanks
                              Paul

Paul, have you found the parents in 1901 or is the whole family missing?

                                Edit
                                - ignore that - found the rest of them!
