  • thomas and martha hastings

i was looking at some marriages from the lma collection on ancestry, and came across the marriage of henry morton to emma stilington in 1846, lambeth.
the witnesses were thomas and martha hastings. both signed. henry is a possible uncle, b.1824 in the strand, and i thought if i solved the witnesses relation, i might be able to get one step further with him being a solid relation.

thomas hastings married martha morton on 2 sep 1838, at st anne soho, westminster. it is the same area my morton and henry's families are from.

could someone please have a look for thomas and martha in the census?

Have found Thomas and Martha in 1860 in Toronto, Canada. He is still a Tailor and was born in Norfolk c1818 and she was born in London c1821.

Have been looking at the Passenger Lists but can only find an entry for Thomas in1871 going to Toronto. Doesn't say where from and there is no image to look at. Maybe he travelled back and forth.

              Will keep looking.

They are still in Toronto in 1881, if you goto www.familysearch.org

you can search there on the canadian census and see the entry.

Have found them in 1871 and 1891 census returns in Canada. Can't see them in 1901 so they must have died between 1891-1901.
