  • Strange lines going down the screen.

For a few weeks there has been one pink line running straight down the middle of my computer screen. It goes through on whatever screen you are looking at.

Earlier on today, a blue line has appeared on the right hand side and another blue line has now appeared about one centimetre away from it.

Turning the computer off and back on doesn't do anything. I have tried to do a screen shot of it for you, but the lines don't show up on the screen shot.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

    Tom

Edit, should say I am using a laptop which is 2 years and five months old, but was a good specification one.

Thats what I was worried about Tim.

It is a Toshiba but not sure of the model number.

The user's manual says P100 on it?

Just googled - yes it is a P100

If you are able to, try plugging it into a monitor to see if the lines remain - I don't think they will, but it would help confirm a screen fault

          Hi Tim.

Went down to the local shop today and that is the problem. Will cost about £200 to fix it though.

Screens are about £100 on ebay, so with labour/warranty included that would sound about right

I got a 2nd hand screen off ebay for £25 for a toshiba lappie, dead easy to change, you don't need any technical knowledge, as long as you can use a screwdriver you can do it, check the model, it will be on a sticker on the underside of the lappie then sarch ebay for a screen

That's a seriously inferior quality screen though Dave - the P100's have a gloss finish screen
