It appears that I prematurely killed off a rellie.

I couldn't find info on Martha Anderson after the 1861 census when she is with her parents, so killed her off with a suitable death ref. Now I have found her marriage to Robert Mills via the LMA records.
On the 1871 census there is a Martha Mills listed as 'niece' to Sarah Bilber with her son Robert Mills (4). This is in Poplar. I believe this is my Martha.
I'm now trying to find more info on Sarah Bilber, but cannot find any other reference in any record.
I think she is the Sarah Lewis who married William BILBIN in 1828 (LMA again) in Marylebone.
Martha mother was Mary Lewis who married George Anderson in 1826. I'm really struggling to get anywhere further back with this line.

Can anyone see Sarah Bilb** anywhere. (born c1801, Poplar)

    This is the 1871 reference - RG10, Piece 583; Folio 21; p35

    Thanks
    Helen

Witnesses to George & Mary's marriage were William Lewis and Sarah Lewis, witnesses to Sarah & William's marriage were William Lewis and Jane Lewis.

There's a death of William Stephen Bilbin Marylebone, Mar 1857, vol 1a, p291.

I've looked in 1851 in Marylebone and the nearest I could find was this
      - Ancestry.co.uk
But the age is a "bit" out and the place of birth is Essex. At first I thought that the pob might be a mistranscription of Stratford (a stones throw from Poplar) but it looks more like Stapleford, which is in Essex.

      In 1861 there's this - Ancestry.co.uk
Sarah Billings (but if you look at the original image they've crossed out William and put Sarah, a widow. She's b Harlow Essex (not far from Stapleford-ish!) but she's moved to West Ham, nearer to the Poplar area.
It's all very vague and iffy but worth looking at?
Sorry I'm not being more helpful:emb:

        Thanks, Sue.

I found Martha yesterday listed a a niece and thought - Yes!!! a lead...and then found precisely nothing on the Bilbeys. :(
I've been looking on the Parishregister.com website and found a Sarah & Mary Ann Lewis both born (at about the right times) to Stephen & Sarah Lewis, baptised at Stepney, with abode of Poplar, but I can't find a William Lewis to go with them!

            Thanks Louise,

On Ancestry as Bellin! That looks like them. William is a male servant. Looks like there are no children.

I've just found Sarah's death using the LMA records - in 1893 in Poplar Workhouse. She was 93!
