  • Can't find 1851 or 1841 census entry

I am looking for Charles Iles in 1851 & 1841.

Here is the family in 1861.

    Can anyone see them?

    - Ancestry.co.uk

Also for the 1871 entry for Charles - what is his occupation - Licensed something - he was in the pub trade.

    thanks.

1871 occupation is Licensed Victualler - basically an innkeeper

Do you know the name of Charles' wife?

          Thanks that's very helpful.

I don't know the name of his wife - other than the 51 record you kindly found for me says she is Jane.

Will see if we can find them in 41 now.

          regards,

Do you think the 1851 I found is the right family - there seem to be a lot of extra children on that one which don´t appear in 1861!

Does not look like the family is shown on the familysearch.org website. What a shame.

I am assuming that all the children on the 51 census have moved away except for William and Smely (emily)- the rest will be 22+ - william is on the 61 census, so just need to track smely down for 61.

If you look at the image I think Smely is actually Emily! :smilee:

                    Yep agreed.

The only issue is that Henry is 15 on the 61c so you would expect to see him on the 51 census - but we only see Emily 5 - so that is a problem

There is a birth entry in 1845 for an emily iles but there is no record for a henry iles -very odd

I found the wife jane in 1861 staying with daughter sarah. So that ties the 51c to the 61c

Just need to work out why Henry is on 61 but is shown as emily on 51
