I have Tom Neale born 1869, Stroud and Annie OBrien born Stroud 1868. They married in Stroud, 1896. They should have a son, Tom born Stroud, 1899 with them. I know they didn't leave the Stroud area but I can't locate them in 1901.

Hope you're feeling better soon :smilee:
Annie could well be an shortened version of Johanna / Joanna.
Have you found Annie before the marriage? I think this is her in 1891 living with her parents. She is shown as single and there are 3 younger children there - Florence aged 4, Nellie aged 2 and William aged 8 months which would tie in with the 1901 census
- Ancestry.co.uk
I think the fact that she has 2 children called O'Brien in 1901 while her surname is Neale adds weight to it being her.
Has anyone else got any thoughts?Jackie

Jackie, I think you might be right! I am doing this for an elderly friend so she may not have been aware of her grandmother having children before she married Tom Neale. Many thanks for your help, it is much appreciated. I think though I will leave the research on this until my head clears!!Teresa...
