I'm trying to unravel my ggrandmother's family and would appreciate some advice as to whether you think I am on the right track.
In 1851 Thomas Johnson is living with his housekeeper Charlotte Warren (unmarried) and her two sons in Kilbourn Derby (Belper registration). They have a daughter Martha Ann in November 1851 and marry in 1852. In 1854 their daughter Charlotte is born, still in Belper area. Charlotte (mother) dies in 1857 or 1858.
Meanwhile Hannah, born Hewitt, first marries John Jacques, by whom she has 2 daughters, Jane (1847) and Sarah Ann (1851) both Nottingham. Jane dies in 1852 and John in 1853. Sarah then marries Robert Mills in 1853. Robert dies in 1858.
Thomas and Hannah marry also in 1858.
On the 1861 census, Thomas and Hannah are with all children as above, plus one listed as Robert Johnson, aged 4 born Nottingham. I am having difficulty finding a birth for Robert. There don't seem to be any under Johnson. However, in 1871 census, he is listed as 16 years old, and there is a Robert Boyd Mills born in Nottingham in 1855. I can then find no trace of Robert Mills b. 1855 until 1881 census. Coincidentally, from 1871 onwards there seems to be no trace of Robert Johnson from Nottingham.
So, anyway, do you think it would be worth getting Robert Mills certificate to see if he is the right one? (Phew!)
Thanks in advance
Linda
