  • Yet another problem.

Sorry...I seem to be hogging this board lately.

I asked ages ago about converting DOCX files to DOC files and you gave me a link to a download that sorted that.

However, I've checked back with that thread and another on the same topic and downloaded the compatability pack, etc from Microsoft.
It says the files are downloaded.

I still can't open the DOCX file. It tells me i need to download the compatability pack, which then tells me I've already done it.....

It's sending me round in circles.

    What have I done wrong???

Have you tried using an online convertor ?

Zamzar - Free online file conversion

I dont know why it's not working, it maybe a Windows
bug, you could try uninstalling your version of Office, if
you have the disks, then install it again along with the
compatability pack and see if a new install helps.

Try right clicking the docx file and choose 'Open With - Choose Default Program'
Click Browse and find your Microsoft Office folder (something like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 ).
In that folder, you should find the file moc.exe
Select that file and click open.
Tick the 'Always use selected program.....'
        Click ok.
Hopefully, the converter will pop up and allow you to convert the file when you double click any docx.
Repeat if you need the same for xlsx files
        Hail Spode!
