  • Can anybody help please...........

help.........arrgghhh.............I have been trying to find a death for a Henry William Goode who was born 1874 in Bushey, Herts. I have systematically checked every quarter on ancestry from 1911 to 1969 with no luck. The only possibles that I have found are a Henry Goode aged 47 in Bury and another Henry Goode aged 44 in Kings Norton. None match the area and the name is not the full name.

there are a number of missing quarters on ancestry during this period and I was wondering if somebody could look these up on FMP before i re-check all the quarters again on ancestry. Thanks

Missing quarters are: JFM 1927, OND 1958, JAS 1943,

    THANKS here's hoping.......xx

Paul the 1st missing image is there on Ancestry.

Search for GOOD, you get the following result

First Name on Page Last Name on Page Year Quarter
    Deric Gomm Elsie M Goodban 1927 Jan-Feb-Mar

Elsie M Goodban has been added to the end of this page, the page ends with Goode's & the next page continues with Goode's. There's a Henry but he's to old to be yours.

You'll be able to find your other missing quarters by searching for a name near Goode, then it's just a matter of checking a few pages either side to find it. The pages aren't missing it's just the way Ancestry have transcribed the last names on the page & additions.

Are you checking for deaths of William Henry's & just William's as well in case whoever registered his death got it the wrong way round.

Pleased you've found the missing pages.

If you don't fancy trawling through them all again Ancestry are working on a full index like they have for the births & marriages, but don't know when this is due to go live :F

I know how you feel as i've done this myself for several of mine, it's not an easy task.

I know its so frustrating I did it when i was tired so probably missed it and therefore its my own fault...!!........what amazes me is , it's never in the first or second year that you check its always 20 or 30 years away from where you start.........!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah everyone I searched for lived into their 80's just about, so I thought i'd work backwards & it would be quicker, only to find they'd died in their 50's :F :F

At least he should still be a Goode! Looked for one of mine from 1891 (this was before 1901 census was released) to when she would be 100, found nothing.

1901 census was then released bingo she been married ... but to a Smith arghh! Eventually managed to find her death about 2 years ago!

Is there anyone in your family you could ask if they remember him?

no unfortunately not, this is a new line thats opened up for me as well.........i've tried finding his wife's death as well to try and pin point a location, but there are five possibles all dotted around and nothing to tie any of them together. Next plan is to come forwards a generation and try to see if they lived nearby and of their children in their later years

Hi - is one of these his wife? Elizabeth Chiddicks or Clara Annie Pavitt? There is a marriage for a Henry William Goode - in Orsett, June quarter, 1895.
Do you suspect they stayed in the Bushey area?

Elizabeth Chiddicks is the correct wife and orsett is correct. They stayed in Bushey for a period but in 1911 appear to be in Hampshire. I just can't tie up both their deaths as yet.

on my list of things to do...........which grows more than it shortens, is to recheck all the death quarters again on ancestry for henry william or william henry goode. I flipping hate it when they hide like this. I have 5 possible deaths for his wife, but it would be nice if I could tie them all together so to speak

dont know if you have seen this:

he might have been staying with children, or moved after the 1911.

                                  Paul,

if that is the right death, perhaps his wife remarried? which might be why you cant find her?

i have several definite possible matches on the wifes death, all possible, but was hoping for a close match with a death for the husband in the same area/time period, before ordering certs etc. Unfortunately the deaths i have for Elizabeth Goode are Nuneaton 1933, birmingahm 1935, luton 1935, cambridge 1942, littleboro 1950, wellingboro 1952.

Just read my broken English.........lol..........can you have a definite possible?

I think you are probably going to have track any children forwards, and look into electoral rolls from the address in 1911.

I have found them, on census, upto 1901. and I even found a birth reg for Henry W.
