I think it is the same surname - Mason.
When you make the image slightly larger it almost looks as if it could be Mr. Hy Mason - but I'm really not sure!

Just had another look - what about Ths Hy Mason
If you look where Thomas Bonner's name has been written (where he made his mark) the shortened version of Thomas there looks very similar to the start of the name of the witness.

Yeah it does look similar...what do you think about William (poss abreiviated) Mason??

I did think of Wm to start with but if you look at the W in the Curates name (W.Winter) I didn't think it was that similar.

I'm favouring Thomas Henry at the moment!

Yes; actually if you compare the Thos (witness) with Thomas Bonner (the Groom) it does look very similar. I can see the Hy. So I tend to agree with you Elaine.

I don't want to split hairs here, but the curates name looks like W. Wilson to me.

but otheriwse I'd agree Thos. Hy Mason & Charlotte Mason as wits

It is Julie! Where did I get Winter from - particularly as the sun is shining and the sky is blue! :smilee:
