  • Help finding an ship sinking on 21/09/1944

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help me please.

I am trying to find details of an event that happened on the 21st September 1944.

A japanese prisoner of war ship (or possibly a submarine?) was sunk by American troops.

However, I do not know the name of the ship or wherabouts in the world it happened.

Can't find anything on google though.

    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

Hi Tom, it wasn't the Montevideo Maru you were looking for? It was sunk 1 July 1941 by an American submarine whilst on it's way to Japan. My grandfather was a prisoner on board.
