How can I print from Family tree maker 2009

I have tried several times to print an extended chart.
It looks ok on screen. Printer says 6 pages, although only 3 have
any thing on them.

I go through all the procedure, get a lovely picture on screen,
looks just what I want. Make any changes and click print.
My print screen comes up, ok I think and press the button.

Then all goes black. Computer switches off and reboots,
Tree reopens, but no print out.

Have tried to print just one page at a time. No success.

Any ideas.

It sounds like a printer driver problem.
Instead of printing directly from the program have you tried saving your chart as a pdf file and printing from the pdf file. Might be worth a try.

When the chart is showing on the screen, click on SHARE (top right corner of screen) and select export as PDF. Then open the pdf file in Adobe and print from there.

That seems to have worked using pdf format.
