I could quite easily imagine Sims being transcribed as Lewis. Which one do you mean exactly ? If I put in Thomas Lewis b1899, the first one that comes up is with his grandparents, and there could be a problem - the enumerator might have assumed the grandchildren had the same surname as the grandparents. That's been done before.

Have you looked at the image of 1901 ?

LEWIS, WILLIAM JOHN HEAD MARRIED M 47
      LEWIS, MARGARET WIFE MARRIED 23 F 46
      LEWIS, PERCIVAL CHARLES SON SINGLE
      LEWIS, RICHARD ERNEST SON
      SIMS, THOMAS SON 1900 Berkshire
this is what the transcript says the image is Sims

        Is this your family in 1901 RG13; Piece: 1167; Folio: 85; Page: 1 ?
If so then the name is definitely Sims on the image not Lewis.

I have looked at the 1911 image and it's definitely Sims for them all but Thomas's entry does look more like Lewis!
        I have pm'd you.
