  • finding the right death

i have a man and his wife who disappear after 1891. john coates b.1830, reeth/muker/grinton. his wife was mary pratt, b.1832, same places. i think i have her death, but only one fits for john, but its in teesdale, the only thing matching is the age.

    Deaths Dec 1899
    Coates, John- 68 Teesdale 10a 178

    here are the refs:
    1861-rg9, piece 3672, folio 70, page 25: reeth, yorkshire

    1871- rg10, piece 4872, folio 59, page 14: melbecks, grinton

    1881-rg11, piece 4918, folio 114, page 24: shildon, durham

    1891- rg12, piece 4070, folio 41, page 19: shildon, durham

would anyone say i have the right reg? or is someone able to find him in 1901?

No, ignore that one. I can see him in 1891 - it's a different one to yours.
      Sorry!

He could have died in hospital. If you have read the books about Hannah Hauxwell, you'll realise that upper Teesdale is extremely remote (for England).

so your saying there could have been a hospital there, and not one in auckland? if it is my man, the only thing i can think of is one of his kids moved there. but i only have most of them to 1891.
