  • 1901 Census help

    Hi

I'm new on the forum and would love some help with finding my ancestor in the 1901 census. I'm on Ancestry as sharonburn67 with a public tree.

I'm looking for Alfred John Hamilton born 28/6/1891 in Marylebone, London

In the 1891 census I found his parents Edith Minnie and Francis Edward Palmer Hamilton and sister Ethel B in Gravesend, Kent

I also found Ethel B, Alfred and Edith (mother) on the 1911 census living in Brixton.

Here's where I get stuck. In 1901, parents Francis and Edith are living in Clapham, sister Ethel is in Milton, Kent with relatives but I can't find 10 year old Alfred anywhere. Can anyone help, please!!

    Thanks v much!

Thanks for the welcome, I'm glad to be here!

His birthplace is shown as Marylebone and his occupation is 'Chauffeur'.

Do you know the names of Francis and Edith's parents just to check whether he is with them on the 1901 census.

          Thanks for the prompt reply!

          Great thinking!
I've got Francis parents in 1901:
Francis Dancey Hamilton and wife Harriette - Alfred's not there

But Edith's parents are a possibility. All I know about them so far is that the father's name was William Henry Blandford and Edith was born in Forest Gate Essex in about 1865. Maybe I need her birth cert for more info.

Thanks again - I'll be back with an update!
