  • My Grandad has got the wrong Mother!!

I have just seen a Family Tree on Ancestry with my Grandad and his sisters on it.

Completely the wrong mother, no father, and this person has followed the 'supposed' maternal line back 3 more generations.

Obviously has not got the birth certificates so why do they do it? If you are going to do it properly surely you need certificates.

Also do I politely tell them or not?

I think you should - most folk out there are nice and it may just be a genuine mistake and I am sure they would be grateful for the help.
On the other hand they may not accept your findings - but at least you have tried.
Good luck and I hope it works out well.
PS - isn't it funny how we get so attached to our rellies and can't bear to see them with the wrong relatives. Yours. Linda. is a very close relative but even with very distant ones I get very protective of them and get quite upset when they have the wrong spouse or children attributed to them etc.
