        No I don't unfortunately Julie :(

His ancestry has been a rock solid brick wall since I found him at the start of my research 6 years ago :(

If it helps though, his sons were called William John, Robert James & Henry...

St Marylebone will be the closest to Kensington, (but not very close)

Sorry Jill, I wasn't ignoring you, just had a lot on my mind today :emb:

Thanks for those. I'm just off to find his birth info on the 1841/51/61 to double check what I do know...

Ok, this is what I have -

                1841 - Bermondsey - 25 (c1816) not born in county

1851 - he was in the lost part of the Salford census, I think the info's in a file somewhere :o

                1861 - Southwark - 48 (c1813) Middlesex, Kensington

So the ones you've found Jill are a bit late I'm afraid.

He maried Harriet Holbrow in 1837 before civil reg, so I can't even look at the marriage cert for his father's name.

                Thanks for your help though

Don't forget that the new indexed Baptism records start at 1813. To find anything earlier (if his dob is approximate) you'd probably need to trawl through the registers - or wait until they index them!

From Ancestry "This collection of ecclesiastical registers from Anglican parishes spans the early 1900's right back to 1538, although the earlier registers are available as digital imaged databases only, with searchable name indexes to be launched soon"
