  • Photo from c1905 for restoration please

This one is of my great grandparents and their three sons. My Grandad is seated on the far left. I don't have the exact date, but he was born in 1887 and his father in 1855. At a guess I would say it was taken around 1905, but perhaps someone more familiar with period costume could be more precise? I'd be very grateful if it could be restored in sepia please. :smilee:

Is that Grandad with his mums hand on his shoulder? Mums dress is a bit old fashioned it looks a wee bit earlier.

Hi Barbara, yes Grandad is the one with his mother's hand on his shoulder. I was trying to work out how old he is in the photo, and thought about 18. He was the eldest of the three - his brothers were 7 years younger and 9 years younger. The youngest brother is in the middle, which would make him 9 if Grandad is 18 and his other brother on the far right would be 11 - but they look a bit older than that to me. What do you think? Perhaps great grandmama was just old-fashioned in her dress sense! :smilee:

              I struggled with this one.

Will try to have another attempt when I next get the chance.

Thanks Niksmum, that is a vast improvement! I know that the original is in poor condition, so I really do appreciate the effort you are all making. :smilee:
