Search Social Security Death Index - Ancestry.com

The Social Security Death index is your best bet. Otherwise, some states have things, but not all by any means.

It is easier to find the US links if you go to .com instead of co.uk.

              yes I can

              Olive J. Lydall b. 1858 connecticut

              Hattie M. Lydall b. 1856 connecticut

I have found them on a few census, but cant sem to find their births..

I think that Hattie is also known as Margaret after her mum, but I cant find much else, i cant even find the flippin images I have saved.

              edit:

              this is them in 1880

scratch that about Hattie being Margaret...

Hattie is a pet name for Harriet isnt it?

from memory I think that they are both school teachers, am sure it was either the 1900 or 1910 cens that Olive is living with her dad Charles. I don't think that either girls married.

I have found Harriet with dad in 1910 now - and she is on all the other early censuses. But haven't found a death or birth for either girl.

The 1860 and 1870 census are showing up on the Family Search pilot site.
From what I can see if you need a Conneticut birth certificate, pre 1897, then you have to apply to the Town Hall where the person was born.
