  • Missing 1871 Census Entry & Bristol Data Needed

    Here is a link to an 1861 census entry for John Preece and family.

    - Ancestry.co.uk

    I can not find one for 1871 - have tried lots of variations on preece but no joy - any thoughts.

    Also does anyone know of a website that would tell me;

    a) The area's covered by Parish churches in Bristol in the 1800's.

    b) Street names in Bristol and there location during the 1800 - for example I am looking for Beehive Lane in Bristol during 1861 for example.

    thanks for looking.

    It looks as though Jane is a widow in 1871

      You might find this useful regarding Bristol parishes: GENUKI: Gloucestershire Towns and Parishes

      Where did you get your reference to Beehive Lane? Is it from a cert or the census? If its from a cert, the registration district and subdistrict might help to trace it. If its from a census, the enumeration district would be a help.

        It looks as though Beehive Lane was close to the Cheltenham Rd end of Ashley Road, which still exists.
        It was in the district of St Paul's

            You can often find an approximate location of roads/streets etc by looking backwards and forwards through the census pages, building up a picture of the roads that are close by and the route the enumerator may have taken.
