  • Anybody use the IFHF in Ireland??

Have just been looking at the site for the 1901 census for Dublin but they charge 5 euros per census, which although on the face of it doesn't appear to be excessive, when you have several possible matches, it can work out expensive.

has anybody any experience of using this site for census returns and are they any good.

    thanks

Why use the pay per view site for Irish census when you can now get all 1911
Irish census for free through the Dublin National Archives? It is hoped that 1901Census will be online also free at Dublin National Archives sometime next year.

National Archives: Census of Ireland 1911

Hi Janet, I have the 1911 census but need to check the 1901 census to verify the family etc, so its a question of trying a few of the options on IFHF at 5 euros a go or a trip to Dublin

Narrow down your census through using the IFHF website and then ( I don't know where you are) use the LDS centre in London or order the microfilms through your local LDS centre ;) it should help if there are a few that you want in the same area.

Would echo what Peppie has said previously povided you know the address you are looking for, or at least the Townland, as the LDS are not digitised but address only searchable. If you are looking for the same address in Dublin for 1901 as for 1911 then that will give you the townland/parish which should narrow your choice.

If no one can help here, then post on the rootsweb mailing list for Dublin; I was given help re the 1901 there a while ago.
