  • Gawith surname census 1861 (possibly Garston)

    Good morning..
I know we shouldn`t take things for granted but I have a marriage in Garston 1842..I presume the bride lived in Garston but not Positive...
Elizabeth Gawith to John Bentley at Holy Trinity church...I also have the following
John Gawith b June qtr 1847 West Derby reg 20 1132
Ralph Gawith b Sep Qtr 1854 West Derby reg 8b 311 ....so I am trying to find if John and Ralph are brothers and who were their parents ..and whether their father and Elizabeth were brother and sister...so I know it`s a bit of a task but could someone look up please 1861 census for John and Ralph Gawith Definitely Liverpool ,possibly Garston..and also the 1841 census for Elizabeth Gawith..Probably Garston but Definitely Liverpool...the slight problem being that I don`t know when Elizabeth was born and how old she was when she married.....hoping to tie the three together....thanxinadvance......allan

On the 1851 census there is John Gawith born c 1847 Liverpool listed as the son of Amelia Gawith, widowed.
The IGI shows a christening on 23 May 1847, Saint Peter, Liverpool - parents James Gawith and Amelia.

Cheers Elaine...so John Bentley was her second husband and she wasn`t a Gawith originally...she got herself a toyboy...it gets better ..lol....The family went to USA in 1870/71 so Ralph would have been 26....obviously didn`t go with them.....they probably are related somewhere along the line but these all look like different families to me...can`t see any connection.....cheers...allan;)
