  • 1911 census people missing

Can anyone help me with this.
I have had several searches on the census.
None of my relatives seem to be on it.
Have a death cert of a child in April 1911 at 42 Archer Lane in Boston.
On the census street search 42 is missing.

Other relatives in Lincoln are not showing on it.
My granny got married in 1910 but I cant find her or grandad on census.
Grandad might have been away with the army so that explains him.
I cant find Grandads brother either, he should have been around somewhere.

Surely they could not all have been OUT on census night.
    Any ideas would be helpful.

    Regards

    Glenda

        OK. details as follows:

        My maiden name is WILLIS-MARTIN.

As i go back the name changes from WILLIS-MARTIN to Willis and sometimes it is Martin.

Harry MARTIN on 1901 as Harry WILLIS was born 1886 and in 1911
should be living in Boston or Lincoln. He is my grandads brother.

He married Violet Broughton Green in 1907 from Cropleys Court Boston
Violet lived in Colley Street Boston .

They had a son William Henry in Sept 1910. On birth cert surname of father
Willis-Martin this was 112 Cannon Street Lincoln.

The son died 21 Apr 1911 William Henry Willis Martin V.W. Martin mother present at death 42 Archer Lane Boston. I could not find 42 on census.

Others are Ethel May WILLIS-MARTIN? could be on as MARTIN (NEE Dickinson)
married 23 July 1910 residence 102 Cannon Street Lincoln.

Arthur Willis MARTIN (my Grandfather) married to Ethel residence 112 Cannon Street Lincoln. He could have been away with the army on census night.

I am trying to find where these people where in 1911.

        Thanks for any help

        Glenda

Bit of a long shot this. Do you have Ethel and Arthur's birth years and places of birth?

There is this one all in Boston (and this is how they are transcribed)

          Auther Wilm Mastin 1891
          Ethel May Mastin 1891
          Gladis Mastin 5 months

            Dear Jackie
            This looks very promising.

And why I cant find because of spelling.

Arthur W Martin was born 21 May 1890 in Boston.

Ethel May Martin (nee Dickinson) was born 8 Jul 1890 Boston.

They were married 23 July 1910 in Lincoln

They did in fact have a daughter born 20 Oct 1910

called GLADYS. I have cert for her and she is down as Gladys Willis-Martin.

I would say these are probably them. It all goes down to spelling and transcription.

Thank you very much for this info.

That does look likely then. Just another thought, do you have the occupations of Harry or Arthur? Also where and when was Violet born?

                      Jackie

Harry was born 30 Aug 1886 in Boston

I believe he was a bricklayer. On 1891 and 1901 census as Harry Willis.

He married Violet in 1907. She was born 1887. I think she was born in Boston also. May have been Lincoln.

                      Violet Green Broughton.
                      Father Wm Green Broughton.

Sorry Glenda I've drawn a complete blank on Harry and Violet. I bet they're in that missing address.

Don't forget with the 1911 that you can use Advanced search options to get more flexibility - e.g. names starting with only the first letter.
