Have you checked the Overseas Death Index - available on FindmyPast and Family Relatives.

There are quite a few links on the South Africa page in The Wiki.

The South African Genealogist site is a mine of information.

If you search the National Archives and Records Service (NARS) using the person's name, you may find the details of their will then you can get somebody to film it and send it to you - unless the records are in Western Cape Archives. The Genealogical Society of South Africa eGSSA branch has people who will go and do the photography for you - click on Online Shop.

thank you. I should have asked the name she was after but I felt as if she didnt want to divulge it. I will pass on the info to her though.
