  • Lost at sea?

I'm still trying to find out when my OHs g gf died. He was William Baillie, a Master Mariner born in Olrig, Scotland in 1843. He married Ellen Calder in 1881 and they had a number of daughters, the last one born in 1900. Ellen remarried in 1908 as a widow, so I presume William died some time between 1899 and 1908, but cannot find any trace. I have tried Scotlands People deaths and the Minor Records with no luck. His ship was the Annie and had 5 crew - would there be any way of tracing what happened to it?

FreeBMD has the death of a William Baillie, 63, in Jun qtr 1807, Gateshead, Vol.10a, p.554 that would fit.

Thanks Hughar - I think I concentrated so much on the Scottish aspect I missed that one. Worthwhile sending off for the certificate.
