can anyone help

I have found a branch of my family in the 1841 census, and have been able to track all but one person and i now seem to be going round in circles.

It is Thomas Hammerstone ( Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 725; Book: 13; Civil Parish: St Botolph Without Bishopsgate; County: Middlesex; Enumeration District: 7; Folio: 17; Page: 28; Line: 4; GSU roll: 438830.)

I have looked everywhere i can think of but keep coming back to another Thomas from Bethnall Green.

As there is no relationship given in 1841, does it seem possible to anyone else that he may not have been a son, but another family member who was visiting that night.

I see that Thomas 1841 says not born in county, whereas the other family members say they are. I would have thought if he was just visiting he would be placed underneath Henry though.

Whitechapel is the right area for Artillery Lane.

Off to see if I can find this chap in 1851.

I have sent for that death cert you found Nell, as its looks like the only way i will find out for sure, providing a family member was the informant.

that one died in 1853, so the corresponding census entry may help.

after waiting a week for the cert, i recieved an e-mail today from the GRO to say that the ref no. i had given didnt exist for that person.
When i went back and checked (which i should have done first) it is actually a birth that you found.
So its back to the drawing board for me.

oh! My apologies! I am so sorry.

However, there is this death:

Thomas Hammerstone 1847 Oct-Nov-Dec Whitechapel 2 Page: 576

which is also right timeframe and area. Its a shame ages aren't included in death indexes until 1866 though. If this is the child Thomas, it should list his father's name and occupation on the death cert.
