  • Missing Children??

James Connolly (b1863) married Annie O'Mara (b1868) in Prestwich, Manchester, Sept Qtr 1889.
The first child I have a record for is Grace, born in Sept Qtr 1901.
As my Ancestry sub has expired, can some please look for James and Annie in 1891 and 1901 to see if there were any children born before Grace.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lynne

Searching for Ford, Duffy, (Manchester and Ireland) Cree (Manchester, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire), Owen (Manchester), Humphreys (Manchester and Ireland), Egerton (Manchester and Cheshire), Cresswell (Manchester).

I am pretty sure the second couple is them, so it looks like there were no children before 1901, unless you can find them in 1891?

I wouldn't bank on there being no children born before 1901,the 1901 will simply show there were no children in the household at the time, it's far more likely there were children who didn't survive.

You won't find any of the following on a census return but they did exist.

Between 1907 and census night 1911 another couple in my tree had two sets of twins and a set of triplets, none of the seven children survived to appear on the 1911 so the couple look as if they have no children after four years of marriage.
