Looking for people in Italy/Greece

I have started to look at another branch of the tree (my side is so getting to me I thought I might try a different branch) They came over I think from Italy before 1901 (I can not find them though) Any good sites to look at I have full access on ancestry but can't seem to find them

There's virtually nothing online for Italy. No central registration, so unless you know which town the person came from (after 1860, or parish before that), there's no way of finding them. I imagine Greece is similar.

If you look at the Wiki, there are some Italian sites listed that explain the situation.

on the 1911 census they have syra and gensa I do not know if that helps or not

No, they aren't Italian place names. Have you seen the original image? The transcription may be wrong.

Might be Syracuse and Genoa.
