  • Windows Live OneCare?

Since getting my new computor running on Vista, I've tried to install various anti virus programs .... but as Windows Live OneCare was already installed they wont instal properly.

OneCare now only has 19 days to go before they're asking for subscription...everyday I'm getting the instal boxes. Has anyone installed OneCare .. if so what is it like?

I'll have to have a look and fine out how much it is ... if it's OK.

if you already have a antiv virus programme you should not really try to install another till you have completely removed that one.
Also I thought that was free ???

Yes Val I know now that you shouldn't install more than one anti virus program .... I didn't know I had it on to be honest. ... until I tried to install others.

I thought it must be free so left it on but it must only be a trial ... it's been on nearly three months now they're wanting a subscription.

I was wondering whether to pay up and just wanted to know if anybody else had it on.

Thanks for that Val .... and the new essentials they're bringing out in it's place is free but not available in england yet. Can't understand why they're still asking people to subscribe to OneCare ..... cheeky devils.

I'll have a look at Kaspersky

Try AVG it's free and it's recommended by Computer active, I did when my McAfee ran out and it's got all I want

the only thing is with AVG you do need a seperate firewall like Zonealarm

Both of which are free so what's the problem.

Besides, if you have a router, it already has a firewall, so you dont need one on your computer.

I think I already have a firewall Val ....but I'll check.

thanks Mariner and Dave ...... yes I use to have AVG and Ad aware when I had XP and I found that quite adequate and never had any problems at all.

I've just been into the OneCare on my computor and it's not all working properly anyway..it says ...' ....that I have no Virus, spyware or other malaware protection because it's not compatible and the format is no longer supported.' ....whatever that means. Yet it still keeps telling me it has 19 days to run.

I think I'll take it all off now .. I'm getting sick of all the messages anyway... and it looks as though I'm not even covered.

                      Thanks all

                        Hi Jean

I had Windows One Care for a year and cancelled my sub when it expired. It interfered with things and played havoc. Not impressed at all - neither were they when I cancelled!!
