  • Need help with a marriage please

I have found the casualty details of my husbands Great Uncle.

I have the names of his wife Elsie Ida and I have found the marriage on Free BMD but when I click on it it only has his name. Is there any other way of doing this?

His name is Albert Edward Prestidge and he married in 1909 Sept Quarter 3a 2108 reg. district Headington.

    Thanks

    Linda

On free BMD if you find the registration district in italics it normally means that the reference is incorrect.

Have checked the image and I think the reference for Albert Prestidge is Headington 3a 2198

which matches with this set of 3:

    Marriages Sep 1909
    Henry Samuel CRITCHLEY
    Ethel Maud HIGGS
    Phyllis Marjorie PAYNE
    Headington 3a 2198

Are there any children listed on the casualty details - if they were born after 1911 then you should find the MMN in the birth registrations on Ancestry.

Presume you found the details from the CWGC site.
He died in 1944, aged 39 ... so could not have married in 1909!

        What about this one
        Albert E Prestidge / Elsie I Barker
        1928 Apr May Jun
        Southampton 2c, 41

          Hi Elaine.

On his casualty details it says Son of Thomas Gilbert and Mary Charlotte Prestidge (O.H's Great Grandparents) Husband of Elsie Ida Prestidge of Addlestone, Surrey (this was 1944)

          No children unfortunately

            Hi Elaine,

            I think you've got it!

Lots of them did move to Southampton in the early 1900's and lots of them are still there now.

As I was typing this I was just thinking he could not have married in 1909 sometimes I am such a numpty D'OH

Thanks so much for you help
