If someone was adopted in the early 1960's and obviously given a new birth certificate, should their new birth details show up on Ancestry or only on the adoption register which is obviously not in the public domain.

The birth certificate and post adoption certificate (assuming you ever manage to find both documents for an adoptee) couldn't be matched together either as neither makes a reference to the other.
The original birth cert should state "adopted" in column 10 but there will be no clue to the date of adoption or post adoptive names etc.
