  • Barham Family

My great grandfather was Robert Arthur Barham born 1841 (wife Hannah Kempton). I have traced one line of the Barham family from George Sir Barham 1836 back to 1159 Warine Fitz-Hurse de Bereham. There is a family tale of our Barham family being Lords of the Manor way back in history which leads me to wonder if Robert Arthur can be related to either George Sir Barham or his son George Titus Barham born 1860 as all appear to be born within the City of London. Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards Margaret.

You need to find Robert's parents - on his birth cert or baptism entry and then trace back further.

1861 has a Robert with mother Eleanor (variant of Helen?) in St Pancras. This Robert is born 1842 so wondering if baptism is for an elder brother who died.

This Robert is a labourer though.

1861 also has a Robert Barham b. 1842 living in St Sepulchre (which is the City) with parents William & Elizabeth but he is a warehouseman so doesn't seem likely to be connected with lords of the manor either, and his father was born in Norfolk.
