I have Annie Lilian Ferguson's birth cert. born 3.8.1896 Reg. district is Lewisham, London.
    Mother Jane Mercy Dunn...No father

I have them on 1911 as Mrs. Ferguson and Miss Ferguson living at 273 Lillie Road (mistranscribed as Lellie) Mrs. Ferguson described as a widow.

I have Annie's marriage cert. Annie Lilian Ferguson Dunn in 1915 still living at 273 Lillie Road Father Thomas Tendar Dunn (Have never been able to find any BMD or census about him)

Can't for the life of me find them on 1901.

    Just to add.

Have just found another marriage cert. after having a good hunt in this untidy study, and found another marriage cert. for Joanna Ferguson dated 1914 living at same address 273 Lillie Road, widow marrying Henry James Trowbridge then a year later Annie marries Walter Albert Trowbridge, his son.

On all of Annie's children's birth certs. (my OH's mother is one of them) her maiden name is down as Ferguson-Dunn.

    Hope I haven't confused you

I found this Annie Dunn described as niece to James. The age is bit out though. James did have a brother called Thomas but he was born in 1874ish so would be considerably younger than Jane

        James Dunn 30 Manchester
        Emily Dunn 23
        Chas Dunn 5
        Annie Dunn 3
        Amy Dunn 2
        Mary Dunn 2 weeks

              Hi All,

              Thanks for the comments.

On 1911 in says that Mrs. Ferguson was born in the County of Bushey.

On the marriage cert. 1914 it says that her father is John Page (deceased, gardener domestic) found them on 1861 census and Joanna in down as born in Bushey, Essex.

                    Hi Jackie,

That does look a possible doesn't it? Looks like because she had no father on birth cert. they have put something different on every census.

I think you're right about the names - I can't find Edward Fergusson (or spelling variations) anywhere and I've been looking for any first name Ann, Anne, Annie, Joa* variations along with any of the surnames you've mentioned.

And I have no idea where Dunn comes into it
