Problem uploading gedcom file

I decided it was about time that I uploaded my gedcom file. However, despite trying and with the help of my husband, I couldn't upload it. I managed to get as far as the gedcom uploader window. But this was completely grey and despite leaving it for several minutes (just in case), nothing happened. What were we doing wrong? I should add we tried using 2 different browsers just in case this was the problem - it did not make any difference.

How large is the file?
What filename are you using?

Maximum file size is 16Kb and you should avoid any strange characters or spaces in the file name - use only letters and numbers.

If you are still having problems then can you tell us which program you are using to export your GEDCOM file - or is it a download from another external website such as Genes Reunited, Ancestry etc.

Hi Elaine,
The file is 826KB. The file name is family.ged created by PHPgedView

If this file is split into 16KB portions will it then load? or is there any other way round the problem?

I think Elaine meant 16 MB, so, your filesize is perfectly ok.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for your help. My hubby has received the e-mail complete with attached gedcom. I haven't actually seen it as it was past my bedtime and I need my beauty sleep!!
