  • 1861 Census Help Please.

George Smith aged 9yrs born in 1852.
A scholar of 7 Alfred Street, Mile End Old Town, London.

Could someone please check this for me and let me know who George
    lived with in 1861.

Have found him on GR but when I try to get details of all the occupants
it shows a completely different address.:(

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter

I cannot do an address search on ancestry and there are lots of George Smiths born in 1852 - none showing Mile End Old Town, can you give any other clues ? parish ? My geography of London is poor.

Many thanks Diane and Cliff. I found two George Smiths who were born in 1852.
and living in Mile End Old Town, London.

One lived at 7 Alfred Street, Mile End Old Town, London and the other one at 2 Wellington Street, Mile End Old Town, London.

Cliff has found the Wellington Street details for me. Could someone help me with the Alfred Street details please?

I'm not sure which one is the one I need yet. When I view a copy of the original census image on GR for both George Smiths it shows completely different Streets. I've just entered the Caroline Smith (b 1814ish) details that Cliff found and GR found her ok but then GR shows houses 5 & 6 Alan or Fair Street! NOT a sign of any Smiths!

Am I having a senior moment or have GR got a gremlin with the census info ?

        Many thanks

        Peter

            Thanks Sue

I think the lad from Wellington Street may be the one. Family names of Emily, George and Caroline are helpful.
