marriage help please...

just found it on free bmd but there are two ann's, how do i work out who is the right one?

There are a few possibilities. The straightforward one is to spend £7 and get the copy marriage cert, just using the name of the groom.

Otherwise, you have to work to and fro on probabilities - looking up the likely candidates in the censuses, and hoping that MiL (or even BiL, or unmarried SiL) came to stay one spring! And you'd still have to buy the cert, to be sure.

If the marriage is near a census then you might find them on it and where she is born might give you a clue.

What's the Free BMD ref and names? Might be able to help if we know more

If the marriage is in an area that is on a county BMD site they may have the right couple eg Lancs BMD etc.

Also have you checked the IGI to see if they are there?
