There are a few possibilities. The straightforward one is to spend £7 and get the copy marriage cert, just using the name of the groom.
Otherwise, you have to work to and fro on probabilities - looking up the likely candidates in the censuses, and hoping that MiL (or even BiL, or unmarried SiL) came to stay one spring! And you'd still have to buy the cert, to be sure.
