  • Birth Certificate for an under 50?

    Hi
How do I get a birth certificate for someone under 50 years old?
I have all the information that you usually need to order from GRO and I know everything else except the dob.
Is it simply a case of going in to the relevant Registry Office and thumbing through pages for that quarter to get the exact date and then ordering from GRO?
Thanks in advance for your help

Allan, you don't need the exact date just the reference number. If you pm or post the details I can have a look for you.

It would be easier to apply to the relevant register office, unless it's London.
I recently ordered one from Dewsbury and they were very helpful.
You should be able to find the address etc online somewhere. I rang them just to check what I needed to send as well. They just wanted a cheque (yes, really lol) for £7 and a stamped, self-addressed envelope, plus the details of the person.

Don't put in the GRO ref as it is meaningless to them. Simply state the year and quarter, or month if you know it.
