  • Sojorners ?

    Hi,

Does any one know what this term means?

I have just found a possible second marriage for one of my direct ancestors - James Riddle. I have found a marriage on freereg for James Riddoll and Sarah Gilson 24 Jan 1803 Babbington Somerset and the witnesses are named as Danial Ashman and William Ashman. In the notes it states the couple were Sojorners. I have never come across this term before and despite goggling I have not found any information which helps.

    Thanks, Sandra

From memory this means someone who is staying temporarily in the district rather than a resident, tr googling with the spelling sojourn

I agree, it means staying for a while somewhere.
