    I also have them on the 1881....Class: RG11; Piece: 84; Folio: 77; Page: 24; Line: ; GSU roll: 1341019.

I found Sarah butler as a widow in Battersea 1891....

I know he died in 1883 I have his death cert.

Her oldest son Japhet Butler aka Joseph was born in 1851 which would have made her around 20.

I found her in 1891 too - as a lodger and widow. Does the DC name her as his wife? There is a possible death for her in 1893 in Kensington, 1a 124, her DC may give you something that would clarify her maiden name

I will send off for the DC in the morning.

It states on Roberts DC "the mark of Sarah Butler, widow of the deceased present at death"

I also have a birth cert for one of their children and it says under mother coloum Sarah Butler formerly Corner

Rosi you might want to look at a possible marrriage also on freebmd - there is a Robert Butler in June 1850 - it's Stepney in italics because it may be outside that area - there seems to be a woman missing, could be Sarah - there are four males and three females - I would check it out if I was you

I think that Stepney entry is i italics because the page number was mistranscribed as 44 as there is another entry for Robert Butler in that quarter in Stepney for page 544. In that case, sorry, neither of the brides were Sarah..
