  • Please can someone work a miracle on this?

the copy I have looks very much like its a photograph of the original, and the contrast has suffered. Its also rather the worse for wear. Please can anyone enhance it so I can see the faces more clearly?

I think it would be taken about 1914; would be interested to know if anyone can date it more accurately. The naval chap in the middle was born in March 1891, married in 1915 (his wife isn't in the photo) & died in March 1920.

The photo looks ww1, the girl appears to have short bobbed hair, and I think she may be wearing what they called a war crinoline......

Yes that's about what I thought, perhaps early summer 1915.

the 2 girls (left) born Dec 1897, (right) born Nov 1892
going off the younger I'd say she looks like she was 16/17?

I'm inclined to put it before the date of John's marriage (June 1915) as he married in Portsmouth. So if he went home to visit his parents surely he'd take his new wife, and she'd be in the photo?

Nah, he'd be wanting to show her off, so his proud mum would be behind the camera.

The girls are John's cousins, so I wonder who DID take it?
