  • I'm trying to help a friend with her tree

Haven't got a lot to go on but this is what I have so far

Alfred Jesse Courtnage b Dec 1887 Alton, Hampshire, married Cicelia Louisa Wells 17 Nov 1910 Watford Herts, had 8 children, but only have death dates for 3
Robert Alfred b Jun 1915, Watford Herts d Jun 1998 Watford
William Richard b Mar 1921, Watford Herts d Feb 1986 Watford
Frederick Thomas b Dec 1923, Watford Herts d May 1994 Watford.

Alfred was born out of wedlock, but his parents went to marry Sep 1890, but in 1891 he was with his grandparents the night of the census RG12/952/125/13, but can't find him in any other census.

Have to pop out for 10 mins but will put the rest up when I get back.

    Thanks

Alfred's mother went on to marry Job Matthews (not sure if this was his father but guessing not as he with grandparents in 1891 and 1901), alfred mother was
Alice Laura Courtnage b abt 1870/1 Headley Hampshire, she had 2 brothers that I know of
        Henry b abt 1863 Headley
Frederick b abt 1866 Headley, their parents were Henry Courtnage and Charlott ?, can find no details of this couple, any help will be gratefully recieved.

Possible parents for Henry are Charles b abt 1811 and Louisa abt 1810 possibly Hampshire.

Using the 1911 index only (i.e. not calling up images), they have an 8-mth-old daughter, Rose, and he's calling himself Jesse. Cecelia is aged 22.

Have you looked at the Headley websites? http://www.johnowensmith.co.uk/headley/register.htm
Headley, Hedley, Arford, Standford, Headley Down, Barford, Wishanger, Sleaford, Hollywater, Trottsford, Grayshott, Greyshott, watermill, Hampshire, Hants, local, history, historical, Domesday, Doomsday, water, mill, village, parish, information, records, archive, Lindford, Bordon, Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven, Fleetwood Mac

(still looking for the actual page I meant)

          Found it! http://www.johnowensmith.co.uk/baptisms/baptisms.htm
There are links from that page to marriages and burials.

                Try this page!

They also have burials on two sets of pages, but they haven't transcribed the marriages so late, yet.

Chrissy... Will your friend want Cecilia followed up, too?

I made a couple of PoB guesses on the 1911: "Watford" doesn't work, but "Bushey" does. I might have time on Thursday afternoon to nip into the Local Studies section of Bushey Museum and get a copy (or at least a transcription) of her baptism and marriage, if they both happened at St James's (Bushey Parish Church).

You have an exact date for the marriage, though. Does that mean there's a certificate in hand already? I won't get any more info than a cert already has - unless I'm allowed to take a photo of the entry. If there's a cert in hand, what's Cecilia's father's name? there are a couple of families in the area who fit the place/date info - but no sign of a Cecilia in the censuses - or in the Birth Registrations, as far as I can see.

As for costs - if I do find anything, I don't think there's a fee, tho' Bushey Museum might appreciate a donation.
