Is this such little metal-type plate with a picture on it?

If it is, then they were in use for the common people around the turn of the century and the first ten years of the 1900s, I'd say. Can that be right? For the rest, if you make the photo a little bigger we could see the clothing a little better...

            Hi Ginny,
            Welcome to FTF.
Using the attachment feature automatically reduces the file size. You can attach a bigger picture if you host it on an external site like Photobucket.
            This thread explains how: http://www.familytreeforum.com/refer...otobucket.html

It is also best to crop the photo during or after the scanning process to get rid of the extra white space surrounding it.
            For scanning tips, see: http://www.familytreeforum.com/refer...hotos-etc.html
            And more about cropping: http://www.familytreeforum.com/refer...ned-image.html
