  • Excel?

I need this program to do some work for the school.

I used to have it on XP and Windows 98, but don't now on my new Vista computer.

How can I get that particular program off my XP (or Windows 98) start-up disc, without loading up the whole operating system please?

    Thanks for your help

Excel is part of the Microsoft Office package, not part of the operating system. Do you have Office on your Vista machine?

If you haven't got the disc for Office then have you tried Open Office that John Nihon uses. It works just like MS Office apparantly so there should be something like Excel.

Open Office calc is the equivalent of Miscrosoft Excel.

Beat me to it Elaine ... LOL :D

          My previous thread:

          http://www.familytreeforum.com/computer-help/25821-openoffice-org.html

In OO you should be able to save your file as an .xls (excel) file.

          Edit:
Whoops and Wendy beat me to it, I'm just too slow.

Thanks everyone and sorry to be a dumbo thinking it comes with the operating system!! :D :D

I'll give Open Office a go... thank you.

I was worrying that I would have to buy a whole new package... :o
