If you put in 3a 1150 you will get one bride and two groomes. Could these be the ones you are after?

On the 1901 census there are an Albert & Rosa Willmore living in the Berkhampstead district, and an Alfred & Sarah Emery in the same district. So I would say that your Sarah Courtnall married Alfred Emery and for some reason the page number on the index is incorrect for her entry.

                Richard

Edit: Sarah's mother is living with them in 1901 - she is a Courtnall, so I'm right (Ancestry have her mistranscribed as Cornwall, but check the image!)

Thank you Black Widow, on freebmd she is shown in 1897 as on 3a 1150a which I think is wrong it should be 3a 1150
What I am interested in, is Richard looked on the 1901 and found match with Emery/Courtnall and also shown as living with them another female Courtnall, I was wondering who she was, as Sarah's mother Emma died in 1880 aged 39.

                        Hi again James

The 1901 census entry is as follows (the Ancestry transcription is wrong - has her as Sarah Cornwall, "father-in-law" !!!)

                        4 George St, Northchurch, Hertford
Alfred Emery, head, M, 24, bricklayer, Berkhampstead
Sarah Emery, wife, M, 24, Berkhampstead
Eliza Emery, dau, S, 3, Berkhampstead
Florence Emery, dau, S, 2, Berkhampstead
Edith Emery, dau, S, 1, Berkhampstead
                        Sarah Courtnall, m-in-law, W, 59, Water End

So maybe this is not the right family for you? (in which case, probably not the right marriage either).

                        Richard

                            Thank you Richard & Kylejustin
                            It is the correct family.

James Courtnall was widowed in 1880 when Emma died in child birth, In the 1881 census he has several young children one who for some reason is away from home and is at the Shelton's and marked as a daughter of the Shelton's.
So Kylejustin you are right that James remarried, he died in Dec 1889 which would make Sarah Courtnall M.I.L a widow.
It also clears up the suspicious gap from marriage to the first births.

                            Thank all who have helped.
