Screen problems on laptop

Hoping someone can help.
The left side of the screen on my laptop is getting darker, have tried in different light but it is still the same. Also the same when I adjust the Brightnes.
Is there anything I can do to correct this ?

If it's just one part of the screen then I'm afraid the screen is on it's way out,

I've just replaced the screen on one of my lappies, it cost me £25 off ebay and it took less than half an hour to change them over, no technical knowledge required just 10 little screws and 2 mini plugs to undo and put back in, anybody with a screw driver who can change a plug can do it.
