Could some one please tell me - is Midsomer Norton a town in its own right or is it part of Radstock ? I have looked on various websites and maps and I am still unsure.

    Thanks Sandra

According to GENUKI, it's a parish in its own right.
Researching Nickless & Evans, Shropshire & Montgomeryshire. Also Ord and Coulson, Co. Durham

Hi Sandra, definitely a separate parish to the west of Radstock.

We are talking historically here, aren't we?

          Midsomer Norton

          Hi

Yes, Midsomer Norton is definitely a town in its own right, both now and historically (I live close by). The local councils were combined relatively recently and they tried to rename it 'Norton Radstock' which simply confused everyone (the name doesn't appear on any map). There has been a lot of rivalry and wingeing in the local press about the fact that they are joined and a big move to get them separated again. Other than that it's a lovely place!
