  • Hunting Sarah Hale

Until yesterday afternoon I thought I had found Sarah Hale on the 1911 census, until I did a bit of checking and discovered that it isn't her:(

I had thought she was living with her grandchildren and one of thier husbands and there had been some confusion with Hall/Hale and who was who.

Eliza Hames married Robert Samuel Hale whose mother is also Sarah Hale.

This is Samuel and his mother in 1891

This is the Sarah I am looking for in 1901

    - Ancestry.co.uk

I am now wondering if she died between 1901 and 1911 as there are only 2 possible Sarah Hales on the 1911 census and niether of them are her. But I can't find a death before 1911 either!:( The most likely is 1921 in Aston, where I would think she was living in 1911.

    All suggestions welcomed!

Yep that's her with Samuel Hale, Eliza Hale and Edith Hames.

The other one that is definitely wrong is aged 72 and living in Birmingham.

She doesn't have a middle name as far as I know, certainly not one she put on her marriage cert or any census return before!!

When she married in 1862 she said she was 22 which makes her born about 1840 the only other possibility I can find is born in 1843, in Gloucestershire, and is living in Shipston on Stour which seems a long way away from where she has been all her life

The West Brom one is also a possibility I think, it's not that far from B'ham I didn't see that before, I think I limited it to Warwickshire so it didn't come up.

I have 20 credits left so will go and have a look!

                Thank you!

No, sorry, Samuel's mother is the Aston one. I'm looking for Eliza Hale's grandmother, another Sarah Hale. I just put the marriage details in to give an age frame, sorry!:o

its me thats sorry.. I must have my foggy head on today,

                    to clarify,

Eliza Hames' grandmother is Sarah Hale but not the same Sarah A Hale that was married to Owen.

                      Indeed!

and the West brom one isn't her! She is obviously somewhere I'm not expecting. Will go and check her children's details, maybe she is with one of them
