  • Philp history in Hampshire

Hi I am researching Philp family history in Hampshire. I have found a William Philp abt. 1785 married to a Sarah Hall. 1792. Both from Petersfield. I have researched Sarah back to 1710, but can not find anything about Williams parents. Any help much appreciated.

Have you looked at this site?
      Parish Register Transcripts

There are some Philp families on the Petersfield pages.

I have families who moved from Rogate & Harting across the boarder in Sussex to Buriton/Petersfield area, maybe yours did too?

Thanks for the replys. I have searched on Familysearch.org and FreeReg. I have already searched on the Parish Register Transcripts so kindly mentioned by crafty sue. It has the marriage there. I dont have full membership anymore to Ancestry so havent looke up there yet. I have looked up Findmypast. The only one mentioned are from Cornwall, but dates dont tie up. National Archives mentions Philp in Midhurst are back into late 1600s earlt 1700s so sure they must be there somewhere!

          UPDATE.
I found this on I.G.I FamilySearch : William Philp Christening: 16 JUL 1784 Haslemere, Surrey, England Parents: Father: ROBERT PHILP Mother: ANN This is under 15 miles from the Sheet/Buriton area, so is possible I guess. Any thoughts welcome.
