    hi,

    am i right that if the father was dead it would say deceased on marriage cert? the wedding was in 1932.
    **no point asking the living for help as the dead are more helpful!!!**

    The vicar or registrar will take your word for it unless they know it's not true.

      In my experience there's no hard & fast rule, father's who are very much still alive shown as deceased & vice versa.

        ok thanks.

        i cant find a death prior to marriage for grt grandad and he is listed on marriage cert but it doesnt say deceased etc. but there again with a name of arthur mitchell and 2 areas of living - yorkshire and peterborough i dont have much hope!

          only if the registrar asked, the person told him/her and they recorded it.
