  • ann wills death

im having trouble locating the death of ann wills. she was born in 1780.

    1841- ho107, piece 1119, book 13

robert wills, 70, born in county. he died in 1845
ann wills, 60, born in county

    1851- ho107, piece 1653, folio 28, page 22
in the household of her daughter and son in law.
ann wills- visitir, widow age 72. b.southampton, hants. an annuitant.

i cant find her on the 1861, and there are no deaths for her in sussex.
her daughter mary ann wills married thomas gadd in 1839. mary died and her sister emma married thomas in camberwell in the 1860's. im thinking ann may have gone with them.

i think these could be likely:
    Deaths Dec 1859
    Wills Ann Camberwell 1d 339

    Deaths Sep 1854
    Wills Ann Westminster 1a 340

    Deaths Sep 1863
    WILLS Ann Marylebone 1a 340

    any ideas?

Camberwell seems the likeliest unless you have any evidence the family moved to either Marylebone or Westminster, both of which are north of the Thames.

Just a shot in the dark, have you ever come across a Gertrude Wills. It's one of my puzzlers as her son, my grandad, John Henry Wills was born 1907 1 Northumberland Street St Marylebone ( the workhouse I believe ) and I have nothing else to go on. Not sure 1911 as I don't know where Gertrude was born and grandad was illigitimate
Hope you don't mind me asking

Looking for Ward, Moore, Hunt, Warren...and who was Gertrude Wills

no, it's fine. i havn't really started my wills family yet. i know they were originally from chichester, but i've been having trouble with them on the census.
i do now have a francis and henry wills as witnesses at a wedding in marylebone in 1865. she may be connected to them?

could this be him in 1911?
WILLS JOHN HENRY M 1908 3 Bethnal Green London
i cant see a gertrude there though. but she may have married, and he might be under a different name?

I was told grandad was a Barnardos boy and my paid search said he wasn't. Mentioned to my aunty the name Gertrude and it was oh yes his aunt, told her about the birth cert and it all went quiet. My aunty always holds up we are related to THE Wills family and that grandma told her grandad was born in a private clinic because of THE Wills connection. Still haven't worked it out, tried to make an educated guess which led me to Devon/Cornwall. Can't say for definite but always found it funny a Wills married a Bryant ( grandma and grandad )....cigarettes and matches together. A great pun if it all came true!

The certificate has him born Northumberland Street and Gertrude lists her work address as Foley Street, St Marylebone and have not found the same 1901.
There is a Gertrude Wills cook/domestic (occupation on grandads cert) to a Henry Muspratt

So, who are "the" Wills family? I only know the tobacco people in Bristol.

lol Elaine! If they were really connected then wouldn't they have been horrified at being visited by the gardener??!!!

                          Never say never though! lol

This burial may be of interest given Ann Wills year of birth. Having said that, I can't find a corresponding death entry

                              Development Systems UK

You need to scroll down and enter Wills as the surname and then click on the entry for Ann Wills

I don't know if Mary Cosford is in some way connected to Ann Wills
